ATLANTIC DIALYSIS MANAGEMENT SERVICES STARTS ON THE “LEAN” PATH
March 6, 2015 - William D. Cundiff, Vice President and Enterprise Compliance Officer at Atlantic Dialysis Management Services, LLC (ADMS) recently completed the Lean for Healthcare program at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville’s Graduate & Executive Education Department. Pictured are Mr. Cundiff, his fellow classmates and instructors.
The program is an applications oriented program designed to teach healthcare professionals how to implement the principles of lean healthcare through a mix of conceptual knowledge and practical skills. Lean healthcare is an organizational philosophy, which aims to meet the needs of the patient by providing efficient, quality care in a timely fashion through the elimination of waste. From the patient’s perspective, the quality of the care and the quality of the service are enhanced by minimal delays, proper clinical procedures, and interaction with satisfied workers. From the organization’s perspective, the benefits can be profound, both financially and culturally, through greater market share, improved productivity, lower capital requirements and reduced turnover.
Upon his return to the workplace, William is quoted as saying, “Challenge everything in the workplace. More important than the actual improvements is in creating an atmosphere of continuous learning and an environment that not only accepts, but actually embraces change.”
