New York Governor David Paterson appoints J. Ganesh Bhat, MD Named to the NYS Public Health and Health Planning through 2016
RIDGEWOOD, NEW YORK, DECEMBER 16, 2010
Noted Nephrologist and New York City resident J. Ganesh Bhat MD has been appointed to the New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council on December 10, 2010 and will serve until May, 2016. Previously he was a member of the New York State Public Health Council appointed by Governor David A. Paterson.
Co-founder of the Atlantic Dialysis Management Services in Queens, Dr. Bhat has practiced nephrology for almost 30 years.
Dr. Bhat is also the Chancellor of Xavier University School of Medicine in Oranjestat, Aruba in the Dutch Caribbean.
The New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council was created on December 1, 2010 and its powers and duties are stated in Chapter 58 of the Public Health Laws of 2010, Part A, Sections 43 to 85. The Council’s mission is to consider any matter relating to the preservation and improvement of public health including responsibility for reviewing and approving the establishment, and transfers of ownership, of health care facilities and home care agencies. The Council is also responsible for the promulgation of regulations under the NYS Sanitary Code encompassing the areas of communicable diseases, drinking water supplies, qualifications of health personnel, maternal and child health, food service establishments, environmental diseases, and AIDS.
In announcing the appointment Governor Paterson felt that he was confident that Dr. Bhat would continue to “serve the people of New York State with dedication and distinction.” “I am indeed honored to be selected for such an appointment to the Council,” stated Dr. Bhat.
